Rain postponed Saturday's Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, and the Angels and Yankees hope for better conditions on Sunday in New York. Game 6 will be played at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday and aired on FOX. If Game 7 is necessary, it will be played on Monday at 7:57 p.m.

The Yankees -- leading the series, 3-2 --will stick with starter Andy Pettitte, who is 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA so far this postseason, and the Angels will stay with lefty Joe Saunders, who has a 2.57 ERA in the ALCS. New York manager Joe Girardi said that postponing the game was a good decision.

"The one thing is you don't want to stop and start," Girardi said. "I don't think any of us are exactly sure when the rain is going to get out of here or how late it's going to be, so I respect the decision they made.

"I'm sure both clubs would've loved to have played. The weather is not permitting."

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said he didn't want to have his starting pitcher warm up then be lost because of a long rain delay that could possibly interrupt play.

"If you're going to lose a starter, either he warms up or throws a half-inning or throws two innings," Scioscia said. "That really affects the outcome of the ballgame. And if you can stay away from that, I know it's a concern of ours and a concern of Major League Baseball's. I'm sure it is of the Yankees, too. So, we'll have everything intact, ready to go [Sunday]."

Saturday's postponement should benefit both bullpens, Scioscia said, giving both teams a chance to reload. However, he wasn't looking too far ahead. The Angels were believed to be considering starting John Lackey on short rest in Game 7, if necessary.

"We'll still have our whole staff out there [in the bullpen] for [Sunday]," Scioscia said. "John Lackey is not -- he's still in play [Sunday]. We'll get through Game 6. There's no sense talking about Game 7."

Girardi wasn't looking ahead, either.

"Our focus is completely on Game 6," Girardi said. "Does it give one team an advantage or not? I don't know. Maybe the extra day helps us more. I'm not really sure."

Fans holding tickets for Saturday's game must use them for the rescheduled game on Sunday. Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets for Game 7 will be good for Monday's game, if necessary.
