Haiti: A Christmas in the rain?

In any case, what announces the national meteorological center suites with intermittent rains that fell in eight departments of Haiti since Wednesday. The orange alert is declared all over.

If rain interferes in the party, here which could spoil the fun of Christmas revelers to which activities are organized in the open air. On Thursday morning, it was noted, however, a return to normalcy with a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius in Port-au-Prince.

During the day and night of December 23, a temperature drop was observed following intermittent rains that lashed the capital. This prompted the residents of the metropolitan area to bundle up, and wonder at the sudden cold snap in a country where it is warm even in winter.

The origin of this temperature drop, we learn, a cold front associated with a center of low pressure between countries and Jamaica, according to the bulletin of the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

The rains and winds caused some damage in various parts of Port-au-Prince and other cities.

In the capital, some roofs were blown away, trees and power poles were uprooted. The same is reported the sinking of a ship cement in a provincial town.

The National Meteorological Center urges the population of risk areas to be cautious because other showers are provided on Haiti that could cause further damage and landslides.

The hurricane season began on June 1 has since ended November 30.
