The police authorities had treated 14 590 in 2008, making a 8.3% increase compared to 2009. The number of arrests also increased by 4% from 17,169 in 2008 to 17 950 in 2009.
The Department of the West comes in first place with 7 487 recorded cases and 7 368 arrests resulting in a rate of 45. 98% of cases while the South has the lowest percentage is 0.73.
On the other hand, spokesman of the HNP, Frantz Lerebours said that cases of murder and shootings have increased 20% compared to 2008. "They went from 577 in 2008 to 729, this is due to a 10% decline in the rate of arrests," he informed.
