Haiti: Arrest of pastor suspected of raping girls
PORT-AU-PRINCE, November 19, 2009 (AFP) - A Haitian pastor was arrested in Port-au-Prince for the alleged rape of several young girls, it was learned Thursday from judiciary sources.
The pastor, who runs a school and a church in a neighborhood east of Port-au-Prince, was jailed last week. Parents accuse him of raping nine girls aged 7 to 10 years, and he denies the facts, told AFP the judge handling the case, Katheline Male.
The magistrate said he "spoke to children who have entrusted us have been sexually abused by the pastor. She said medical examinations of alleged victims showed signs of sexual abuse.
