Haiti: panic after an earthquake in Beaumont in the Grand 'Anse
About five students at Beaumont High School were injured in an earthquake recorded in the morning of Thursday, November 26 and felt in the towns of Beaumont, Coral and Pestel in the department of Grand 'Anse.
Government authorities have provided no explanation on the intensity of the earthquake which caused a panic especially in Beaumont. No official figure was disclosed.
The correspondent of a local radio station in the capital reported that students at Beaumont High School were hastily emptied their classrooms during the earthquake. What has caused five (5) injuries among kids, "he added.
A little later in the day, students from the same school have won the streets to ask the Ministry of Education to appoint new teachers to supplement the teachers who have left the city.
For several weeks, these kids are left to themselves. The protesters have also started throwing stones at some private schools and disrupting the school day. The police intervened to restore the quiet in the region.
