163 million available for emergency program
Haiti: The head of state of Haiti, René Préval, yesterday revealed Tuesday that his government has mobilized 163 million dollars to realize major projects within the state of emergency.
The money comes from money Petrocaribe Preval said during a news conference. This sum would be for the construction of road sections, bridges, improvement of living conditions of victims in shelters, purchase of equipment for the CNE, not counting the 5 million already disbursed to the purchase of 50 000 tents to China.
President Préval has denied any rumor of corruption in the use of $ 197 million the previous emergency program and informed the press of his intention to ask the parliament for an extension of this emergency.
